DM Diabetes Management
What is diabetes?
Diabetes occurs when the blood sugar (glucose) levels are too high, e.g. if the body is not producing enough insulin. It can usually be managed very successfully and your vet will explain in detail what is involved. There are usually 3 key steps in management:
- Providing insulin through regular injections
- A consistent feeding and exercise regime
- Adjusting your dog’s diet
The goal of treatment is to maintain blood glucose within a safe range throughout the day. As your dog’s glucose level is stabilised, you should notice his/her condition improving.
This delicious complete veterinary diet has been specially formulated to help regulate blood glucose (sugar) levels in diabetic dogs.
PURINA® PRO PLAN® VETERINARY DIETS Canine DM Diabetes Management contains low levels of carbohydrate and optimal levels of fibre to reduce the upsurge in blood glucose that happens after meals. Additionally it contains a natural bean extract that has been shown to control blood sugar levels after a meal and is rich in antioxidants to help neutralise the free radicals produced with diabetes.
